BRUSH-TAIL ROCK WALLABY

The Brush-tailed Rock-wallaby is very small, about 50 centimetres tall with

adults weighing between 5-8 kilograms. Their fur is generally brown and red,
with white stripes between the ears and chin. Its scientific name is Petrogale
penicillate.
HABITAT PROFILE :BRUSH-TAIL ROCK
WALLABY

The Brush-Tail Rock Wallaby seeks refuge near the rocky caverns of the East
coast of NSW. You would normally find them in rocky outcrops, cliff ledges and
rugged, steep places. They need a cave or rocky area to retreat most of the day
and to also protect them from predators.
FOOD PROFILE: BRUSH-TAIL ROCK
WALLABY

The Brush-Tail Rock Wallaby gorges itself to a wide range of short grasses,
acacia flowers, bulbs, fruits and bark. It also loves eating a fungi called the
hypogeal fungi. They specifically eats the fruiting body, which is the top part of
the fungi.
ADAPTATION PROFILE :BRUSH-TAIL
ROCK WALLABY #1
1. Hind legs
The flexible, well-padded hind feet help them move swiftly through the rocky terrains of their range
so they don’t fall . Its fingerprints help them keep grip.

2. Tails
The long, fluffy tail of the Brush-Tail Rock Wallaby is used for balance when they jump over boulders
or rocks. It creates an overall balance, just like the kangaroo’s tail.

3. Nocturnal Ability
The Brush-Tail Rock Wallaby normally seek refuge in their rocky caves at dawn to escape their
predators in daytime. This helps them hide without being seen.

4. Tiny Size
Compared to normal wallabies, the Brush-Tail Rock Wallaby is tinier in size. It helps them squeeze
through tight closes and caves in their rocky habitat.
BRUSH-TAIL ROCK WALLABY
THREATS

These very cute wallabies are in grave danger! Ever since red foxes appeared in
Australia, these tiny creatures became endangered! Not only does the fox have a
large appetite, it also has a strong sense of smell. Since the wallabies can only
hide, the foxes easily find them and gobble them up. Also, many rabbits and
small mammals fight with their food, causing less food for the wallabies. And
since their habitat was destroyed by us humans for farmland and houses, they
were forced to stay in long grass. They also have a great danger of diseases.
SANCTUARY DESIGN
GOVERNMENT RULES (TO ALL OF US)

1. Allow the wallabies to live inside where ever they want to

and not steal it.
2. Use all of our money/taxes for that cause ( No one should have to pay extra
money and the government should use his own money too)
3. Animals should be allowed to get vaccinations and antidotes for free (No
stealing anything from them to get something back!)
