Inventory Management

 Inventory management refers to the process of ordering,

storing and using a company's inventory. This includes
the management of raw materials, components and finished
products, as well as warehousing and processing such items.
 The total yield of the mill is about 80,000 tons per year which
is also equal to 10 ton / hour. Mill has large warehouses for
the storage which can store the rice for long term safely.
 As the production and polishing season is over the mills start
sending big containers to port for export and other Basmati
rice to Retailers and brands.
Customer group

 Zafar Idris & Co. is following international strategy

cause of export of their quality rice to Middle East,
European Countries, Canada, and Iran. Although rice
is the second largest exportable crop of the country
after cotton, the country has historically underutilized
its potential to earn foreign exchange reserves from its
exports.
 While it also covers the need of Local market, as it is
situated at central Punjab region where the rice buyers
are taking the market. Where Retailer and whole
sellers are looking for commission.
 Strength: Their main strength is innovative
and efficient management highly trained
and committed labor force, latest
SWOT technology, R & D, and organizational
culture based on team focused culture.
Analysis:  Weakness: Their weakness is based on weak
financial positions and lack of good
distribution network nation wide. They took
heavy loans from banks to expand their
utility and import latest technology.
 Opportunity: Their main opportunity is
based on increased population of Pakistan,
opening of multinational restaurants,
increased consumption of quality rice which
is favoring their business growth. Also
Pakistani rice is well known and well
reputed in the world market that also shows
good opportunity for our rice industry.
 Threat: Inflation, new entrants in rice
processing industry, energy crisis( Load
shedding and Sui Gas shortage), domestic
violence and terrorism, and political
instability of Pakistan.
Forward/Backward
Integeration:
 Forward and Backward Integration:

 Forward and backward Integration enables a rice

mill to be more competitive, As the first buy the
good quality of paddy at low cost and then do all
the process with a controlled cost usage and
increases the value of product. And after the
production process they also market it.
Recommendation

 Recommendations:

 Upon our analysis of Zafar Mills Pvt. Ltd as an organization and their
activities regarding their business, we have the following recommendations.
 They should install their own power generation plant so they can avoid
interruptions and cycle time wastage.
 They should install a new Sheller plant that can produce up to 50,000 tons/
year to match with the processing capacity.
 They should build new warehouses to hold their processed rice and raw
material to avoid wastages and losses.
 They should go for vertical backward and vertical forward integration.

 They should focus on local and national efficient advertisement to make more
awareness to consumers and dealers about their quality rice.
