Cleaning and Disinfection in Various Setting As IPC
Cleaning
Refers to the removal of germs, dirt and
impurities from surfaces
Disinfection
Refers to using chemicals to kill germs on
surfaces
Mop floors at least once a day with regular soap and water
(using the two or three-bucket system of mopping)
2-bucket (1 bucket of water and 1 bucket of
detergent/disinfectant solution)
3-bucket (1 bucket detergent (cleaning); 1 bucket water
(rinse) and 1 bucket of disinfectant solution)
Community spaces: if someone in the
building is sick
REMEMBER!!!
Close off all areas used by the Wear disposable or impermeable
sick person. Open outside doors gloves and gowns for all tasks
and windows to increase air Additional PPE might be required

used the facility, additional cleaning and disinfection is
not necessary.
Continue routing cleaning and disinfection. This
includes everyday practices that businesses and
communities normally use to maintain a healthy
environment.

Flush toilets should operate properly and
have functioning drain traps
Liddown to prevent droplet splatter and
aerosol clouds if possible.
