The document describes an automatic and portable gas pipe cutting machine. It was designed to meet the requirements of being light, portable, easy to maintain, and to cut pipes with a fair degree of accuracy. The machine allows pipes to be cut on site rather than just in workshops. It works by having the cutting system revolve around the pipe using a motor for automation. This makes the cutting process faster, reduces worker fatigue, and requires less skilled labor than conventional methods.

Content Introduction Working History Advantages Methodology Application Current Problem Conclusion Invention Future Scope New parts used in system References INTRODUCTION It is essential, in the interest of strength and economy, to cut pipes cleanly and with a machine designed for such work requires to be light, portable and easy to maintain. The automatic portable gas pipe cutting machine has been designed to meet such requirements fair degree of accuracy. Machine designed for such work requires to be light, portable and easy to maintain. The automatic portable gas pipe cutting machine has been designed to meet such requirements. HISTORY French engineers Edmond fouche & Carles Pickard founded Gas cutting & welding process. Oxy-Acetylene fuel is widely used in recent decades. 90% work is done in workshop & 10% in field. Small size pipes are easy to cut. Cutter is fixed and job revolves under it. METHODOLOGY The smallest diameter pipe that can be dealt with is 380mm (15 inch). The largest diameter depends upon the length of the drive chain. The cutter has the capacity to cut thickness depends upon the concentration of the gas flame adjusted. CURRENT PROBLEM Cutting of large diameter of pipe is difficult. e.g. Gas & Water supply pipelines. Conventional system is difficult to use on field. High skilled labour are required for high accuracy and finish. Production rate is low and also efficiency is low. INVENTION Automation in cutting operation. System revolves around job(pipe) circumferentially Motor use in system to revolve around it. Varying speed of motor & concentration of flame to cut different thicknesses of job. The whole system become potable & light weight. NEW PARTS USED IN SYSTEM Drive Chain Driving Motor Wing Nut Sprocket Spring Guide Wheels Base Plate Lead Screw Saddle Pillars WORKING ADVANTAGES Fast Process Reduced Fatigue of Worker Less Skilled Required & Less Labour Cost Compact Size Economical Process APPLICATION This machine can be used almost in all types of industries. This machine is mainly used in fabrication oriented industries. This machine can be used where cutting of large diameter metal pipes is required. CONCLUSION The auto gas pipe cutting machine is designed taking in account of currently available components in the market. The project can go beyond its current position and capabilities by employing automation into it. This can be done by using DC geared motor. The use of this machine increases production rate, workers safety in gas pipe cutting operation. FUTURE SCOPE By using sensors for automatic stopping of machine after performing the cutting operation the accuracy of machine can be increased also possible chances of accident at the time of shut down the machine can be eliminated significantly. By using specially manufactured light weight alloys the weight of machine can be reduced which in terms increases the efficiency of the machine. Use of adjustable chain can make use of machine very convenient over metal pipes of different diameters. Endless efforts can be made to continuously improve upon the pipe cutting systems. The use of automatic pipe cutting concept would cut upon the cost and labour involved in pipe cutting to a great extent.
