OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY
 Anil Kishore founded the company.
MSL Produces car horns solely for the replacement market.
with 6 workers MSL started the operation but double after 2011 and the newly hired were paid
on piece rate basis.
Horns were sold through wholesalers and workshops.
Two models accounted for 80% of the scale : Classic HH 90 dia & Mithu AC 72 dia
Typical selling price INR 150, and for brand it is priced at INR 200.
Horn manufactured by MSL comes with 3 yr warranty.
INDUSTRY LEVEL CHALLENGES

. MSL is unorganised sector.

.Most of them provided lower-quality horns, either because of difficulty obtaining high-quality
materials or to save operating expenses.

. MSL cant able to retain the skilled employee and particularly testers.

. China products in market also threat for the MSL


RECOMMENDATION AND SOLUTION

. Using past data to create a pattern for as accurate demand forecasting as per season ,in rainy season demand shoots up.

. Using comprehensive investigation, determine the reason of product failure and mitigate warranty clauses.

. Develop a core competency/product specialty to achieve a larger market share and perhaps get an OEM supply contract.

. Adopt inventory management methods to reduce the amount of time spent obtaining raw materials for manufacturing as much
as feasible.

. Implementation should be done phase-by-phase quality assurance procedure that includes any essential in-process
inspection as well as final QC with the assistance of specialized out source resources (testers) – this will improve
product competency give assurance for vendors .

. per-piece pricing strategy will incentivizes workers to work more, it must be applied consistently to all employees.
OPERATION CHALLENGES

. It took a long time to find the right materials.

. Unable to pinpoint the cause of horn failure.

. No process for inspection or quality check before delivery.

. Workers were hesitant to combine mechanization and process improvisation.

. More choices are available so it is difficult to find specific model.


RECOMMENDATION AND SOLUTION

. Lead time which is currently 5 days need to worked with a plan and reduce with quality
assurance.

. MSL is engaged in build in order i.e.; pull strategy so warehouse and inventory cost can be
reduced they should continue with this plan.
