Background of study
Signal is an encrypted app that lets you send messages and make calls via the Internet.
It was created by Moxie Marlinspike. Signal Foundation was founded on January 10, 2018, and a
former co-founder of WhatsApp — Brian Acton — made an initial funding of $50 million.
Signal is safer and more secure than most messengers because of a process called "end-to-end
encryption.“
Signal have recently become India’s most popular app and are also trending as no. 1 on Apple
and Android after the whatsapp policy.
Latest data have shown that the user based and total section time of sign show poor number.
Management Problem Management Question
This research is used to find out the
consumer behaviour towards Signal and
reason of low user rate of signal
to gain customer base in India .
application.
Research Design
• Sampling technique will be Probability or non- probability sampling . In which we will collect data
through convenience sampling.
• In our study we will use convenience Sampling of it’s speed, cost effectiveness, and ease of availability of
the sample.
• Selects sample based on the subjective judgement rather than random selection.
• Non-Probability sampling is most useful for exploratory studies. We use this method in our study due to
time or cost considerations.
HYPOTHESIS :
If Signal upgrade it’s features and UI along with it’s strong security then usage rate of this application will increase.
Those people who are already using any messenger app from at least one year and very satisfied with their current
app, are not willing to switch to Signal
HYPOTHESIS 1 H0- Adaptation time has no impact on usage of Signal.
H1- Adaptation time has an impact on usage of Signal.
HYPOTHESIS 2 H0- People are not influence by their peer group for using messenger apps.
H1- People are influence by their peer group for using messenger apps.
HYPOTHESIS 3 H0- Consumer Satisfaction with their current messaging app has no impact on usage Signal.
H1- Consumer Satisfaction with their current messaging app has an impact on usage of Signal.
HYPOTHESIS 4 H0- Signal customers are unaffected by its features.
Data from KalaGato looked at a 13-day period — 1 to 13 January — for three messaging
apps that tout privacy as a major feature: WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram.
For convenience, the data from each day was averaged out and compared with two time
periods: 1 to 7 January, and 8 to 13 January, the latest day for when data is available.
Exploratory( primary research)
2. 53% of people are just downloaded signal but haven't started using this.
3. 68% people have not usage signal because their current messaging app is good enough to
fulfil their requirements.
