Science VI - Cause of Day and Night
and Night
As the Earth moves around
the sun, it also spins or
rotates.
Rotation is the movement of Earth as it
spins on its axis, and revolution is the
movement of the Earth around the
sun.
Earth’s trip around the sun
takes 24 hours.
It takes 365 ¼ days or 1 year for the
Earth to complete one revolution.
Earth’s rotation and
revolution causes seasons.
Earth’s axis is rotated while it revolves
around the sun causing seasons. It is
because of the different ways the
sun’s rays strike parts of the Earth.
One complete rotation of
Earth takes 24 hours or 1
whole day.
As the Earth rotates, it turns about its
axis just as the top spins. This causes
the day and night.
