MODERN TRENDS IN

ENGINEERING

Group 5: Mikaelia Nesbeth, Linzel Foster, Davaun Glave and Stephen Richards
INTRODUCTION

Over the years, the engineering industry has revolutionised itself and
made great strides in modernising itself. With the help of new programs,
software and techniques, engineering has become a technical industry
which requires the employment of highly trained professionals. I’m this
presentation, we will be expounding one some modern trends in
engineering.
GREEN CONSTRUCTION
Green construction is the use of environmentally friendly materials and
methods to construct our built environment.

An example of Green Construction would be the installation of solar

panels as an alternative energy source to electricity.
COMPUTER AIDED DRAFTING (CAD)
.
• This is a software that is used by engineers and architects to draft blue
prints and working drawings.

• Computer Aided Drafting became abundantly popular in the 2000’s.

• Computer Aided Drafting eliminated the need for traditional drawing

and this revolutionised engineering and architecture
3 DIMENSIONAL PRINTING
• 3 Dimensional (3D) printing is a modern trend in engineering that
allows 3 Dimensional models of objects to be printed. Special purpose
printers have been invented and developed specifically for this task.

• 3D printing allows engineers to print, assess and revise the structure of

the object the intend to construct in real life, thus fixing any flaws
before construction takes place.
VIRTUAL REALITY (VR)
• Virtual Reality is the use of special software and hardware to produce
a lifelike replica of a place or event.

• Engineers use virtual reality to produce replicas of the place or object

they are trying to construcy.

• Like 3D printing, virtual reality helps engineers to identify and correct

any and all flaws in the design of the building or object they are
constructing.
ROBOTICS ENGINEERING
• Robotics is a branch of engineering that involves the conception,
design, manufacture, and operation of robots.

• Robotics Engineering is a growing field, due primarily to the fact that

the world is constantly revolutionizing itself.

• Robots are created with special purposes, and some are designed to
resemble human bodies or body parts.
