Prepare a new project (c)

Objectives

 Optimize data geometry and project memory

– Change seismic Geometry
– Crop and realize seismic data
– Prefetch to cache
– Use Seismic calculator
2.Crop the virtual cube:
Crop seismic data a.Click in function bar, drag the green handles
appearing in 3D window; or
1.Right-click the seismic cube, b.Go to Settings, Cropping tab and specify line ranges
select Insert virtual cropped
volume; a virtual seismic a
cube appears under the
original seismic cube, with
identical geometry.

Note: A continuous readout of volume size is found in the

lower right corner when graphically cropping down the cube.
Realize seismic data (1)

Realize seismic cube =

Create a new object in ZGY format

Benefits:
- Optimized for 3D handling
- Faster to render than SEG-Y

1.Go to Settings, Operations

tab, Realize sub-tab
Realize seismic data (2)
2.Select source amplitude range and
realization quality. Click Scan

3.Click Realize; the process status is

found in the Task manager.The
realized cube is under the seismic
survey folder in Input pane
Prefetch to cache seismic volumes
1.Go to Tools in the menu bar, select System settings > Seismic tab to set the Seismic
cache size and Graphics card memory.

2.Right-click a seismic cube, select Prefetch to cache; this will load the selected
volume into the computers RAM (for even faster access).

Note: SEG-Y and ZGY volumes can be prefetched to cache if

the volume is not larger than the available cache size.
Create external seismic files

1.Go to Tools in the menu bar, select System settings > Seismic tab and click the
Create external ZGY and SEGY files by default checkbox.

2.Specify the directory in which to store the files.

Seismic calculator
1.Right-click seismic volume, select Calculator

2.Enter the equation by typing and

selecting from the seismic
variables and calculator buttons

3.Use the blue drop in arrow to drop in

non-seismic objects (surfaces, functions)

4.Click Enter to execute

the equation; a new
virtual volume is stored
in Input pane
