Nowadays, curriculum could have different meanings for
different people depending on how it is used.

- The content or minimum requirements of each


subject area taught in school.

- The course of the study which is just a guide, an


outline designed to help the teacher in planning and
implementing the curriculum.

Using a medical analogy, it can be termed generic since it is
common to all schools in the country.

A general course of studies mandated for all Philippine schools.

Made up of subject areas required of students to compete and


earn credentials corresponding to a school level for instance,
basic education.
Micro Curriculum SPECIFIC
PARTICULAR
Using a medical analogy just cited, Micro Curriculum is like the
specific or branded version of the generic medicine

While abiding by the prescribed general curriculum and its


corresponding minimum competencies for each subject area, a
school can organize, enhance and package the content of the
subject areas to make it relevant to its peculiar clientele and
avowed purpose.
For CDS purpose, curriculum shall be taken to mean:

The sum of all leaning content, experiences and resources that are
purposely selected, organized and implemented by the school in
pursuit of its peculiar mandate as a distinct institution of learning
and human development.

Concerned with the learning content or learning


experiences, the WHAT or the HOW of human
formation.

School accountability and responsibility.

• Development – connotes change

• Change means any alternation or modification


in the existing order of things

• Positive change brings about development


Characteristic
Change must be PURPOSEFUL
Intentional and directional

Change must be PLANNED


Series of systematic and sequential steps leading
to a target.
Executed over a period of time

Change must be PROGRESSIVE


Positive change brings about improvement. It takes a person or a gro
to higher levels of perfection
Curriculum Development
Concerned with drawing up of plans for teaching and learning activities in
classroom situations that will bring positive changes in the lives of the learner.

It is based on the school’s Mission and goals and identifies ways


of translating these into a coherent program of meaningful
experiences and conditions eliciting responses that will lead to
transformation of the learners into authentic, warm ang sensitive
human beings.
