SEEDS OF LIFE

John 12:24
I tell you the truth.
A grain of wheat
must fall to the
ground and die.
Then it makes many
seeds. But if it never
dies, it remains only
a single seed.
John 12:24
GERMINATION

MATURITY
STAGES OF SPIRITUAL MATURITY
At each stage of
[spiritual] growth, more
self-denial is required,
more painful blows to
self, more reckless
decision to serve the Lord
Christ with consequent
abandonment of one’s
own life. (Walter Chantry)
Unless we
choose to truly
grow in Christ,
our faith will be
in vain.
1.
THE
TRUTH
OF THE
SEED
a) Jesus
emphasizes the
importance of
growth and
transformation
(Rom. 12:2)
b) There must
be an
immediate
response of
obedience (Josh.
24:15-27)
Before growing in our
relationship with God, we
must have a relationship
with Him. It is meaningless
to even address other needs
before addressing our
personal relationship with
God. Without God and His
enabling power, we cannot
effectively change any part
of our lives. (Karl Graustein)
2.
THE
DEATH
OF THE
SEED
a) Every saved person is called to
transformation (Rom. 7:4)
b) Every saved person is called to
be buried with Christ (Rom. 6:4)
Our wills must be broken to
His will. To be broken is the
beginning of revival. It is
painful, it is humiliating, it is
the only way…The Lord
Jesus cannot live in us fully
and reveal Himself through
us until the proud self within
us is broken. (Roy Hession)
3. THE RESURRECTION
OF THE SEED
a) We must
die in order
to become
what we are
destined
for.
(Col. 3:3-4)
b) The less we become, the more
Christ is glorified in us. (Gal. 2:20)
God is looking for men and
women who will never be
content with mere
experiences and “blessings,”
but who will take up the
cross daily and follow Jesus
and thus manifest in their
lives and in their service the
reality of those words, “It is
no longer I, but Christ that
lives in me.” (Zac Poonen)
HOW DO WE BECOME SEEDS OF
LIFE?
1. Remember that Jesus’s
words require our
obedience.
2. Remember that we are
called to transformation
from glory to glory.
3. Remember that we need
to die to ourselves in
