INTRODUCTION
 The Emergence System is an automation company.
 The company manufacturers control panels as per the customer demand as well
as provide solutions for the problems occurred in the automation industries.
 Types of control panels manufactured in company:
a) Motor Control Center (MCC Panel)
b) Automation Panel (SCADA PLC Panel)

CONTROL PANEL
 Control panel is used to accommodate instruments for the purpose of
measurement, monitoring, protection, detection, control and manage the
processes.
 The panels are located in a control room as well as a field termed as a local
control panel (LCP) for operational convenience.
 The key components of control panels:
a) Transformers
b) Power supply
c) Circuit breakers
d) Disconnect switch
e) Terminal blocks
f) Relays
g) Fuses
h) Motor drives
i) Motor starters
j) PLC

TYPES OF CONTROL PANEL
 MCC Panel:
 MCC stands for motor control center.
 A motor control center(MCC) is an
assembly containing motor control
units.
 A motor control center can include
variable frequency drives,
programmable controllers, and
metering.
 In most of the MCCs, auto/manual
provision will be there.
 Indicators for the motor operation also
will be present in control panel.

TYPES OF CONTROL PANEL
 Automation Panel:
 Programmable logic controller (PLC)
control panels are also known as PLC
Automation Panel.
 The control panel is installed with a
PLC associated wiring, power supplies.
 PLCs are complex and powerful
computers; it takes inputs, performs
logic on the inputs in the CPU and then
turns on or off outputs based on that
logic.

WORK AT EMERGENCE SYSTEM

 I am getting training on the project of VFD Control Panel for Three

Phase Induction Motor at Emergence system, MIDC, Waluj,
Aurangabad.
 They have introduced basic structure of a VFD as well as all the
components required for VFD Control Panel for Three Phase Induction
Motor.
 They are going to provide circuit diagram for the control panel.
 Then the VFD control panel will be manufactured.
 After the manufacturing, the panel will go through the testing.
 Now the VFD control Panel is ready to use means to control the speed of
an induction motor as per the customers demand.

VFD CONTROL PANEL FOR IM
Uses of VFD Control Panel:

1. Adjustable speed:
The A frequency control potentiometer is installed on the VFD panel's
door, to transmit command signals to the motor according to operator
assigned. VFD panel has mains switching function to ensure the system
continues operation in case of the variable frequency drive failed.

2. Saves energy and cost:

A VFD regulating a pump motor that usually runs less than full speed can
cut down energy consumption over a motor running at constant speed for
the same period. In addition, it eliminates the need for mechanical drive
components, which also helps reduce overall costs.

Uses of VFD Control Panel:

3. Controlled Starting Current:

When an AC motor is started it can take up to seven-to-eight times the
motor full-load current to start the motor. VFD starts a motor at zero
frequency and voltage. As the frequency and voltage build, it magnetizes
the motor windings, which typically takes 50-70% of the motor full-load
current. Additional current above this level is dependent upon the connected
load.

4. Elimination of Mechanical Drive Components:

Using a VFD eliminate the need for expensive mechanical drive
components. Because the VFD can operate with an infinite variable speed, it
can deliver the low- or high-speed required by the load. This eliminates
maintenance costs, as well as reducing floor-space requirements.

VFD CONTROL PANEL FOR IM
Components required for control panel:
 VFD:
 VFD stands for Variable Frequency
Drive.Variable frequency drive controls the
speed of an AC motor by varying the
frequency supplied to the motor.
 The first step in this process is to convert
the AC supply voltage into DC by the use
of a rectifier. Then using Pulse Width
Modulation DC power is converted into
AC using inverter.
 The most common uses of a VFD are for
control of fans, pumps and compressors.

VFD CONTROL PANEL FOR IM
Components required for control panel:
 MCB:
 MCB stands for Miniature Circuit Breaker.
 It automatically switches OFF electrical
circuit during any abnormal condition in
the electrical network such as overload &
short circuit condition.
 The MCB is an electromechanical device
which guards the electric wires &electrical
load from over current so as to avoid any
kind of fire or electrical hazards.

Components required for control panel:
 MCCB:
 MCCB stands for Molded Case Circuit
Breaker.
 It is another type of electrical protection
device which is used when load current
exceeds the limit of a miniature circuit
breaker.
 The MCCB provides protection against
overload, short circuit faults and is also
used for switching the circuits.
 It can be used for higher current rating.

Components required for control panel:
 Relay:
 Relay is a switch that connects or
disconnects two circuits.
 Relay can be operated using either AC or
DC.
 Relay control one electrical circuit by
opening and closing contacts in another
circuit.
 When a relay contact is normally open
(NO), the relay is not energized. When a
relay contact is Normally Closed (NC), the
relay is not energized.
 In either case, applying electrical current
to the contacts will change their state
