INTRODUCTION
A structure is a series of connected, interrelated elements that form together a
system that can resist a series of external load effects applied to it.
It also includes its own self weight ,and provide adequate rigidity.
A structure is usually made up of beams, columns, slabs, walls footing, stairs.
The basic objective in structural analysis and design is to produce a structure
capable of resisting all applied loads without failure during its intended life.
Internship Objectives
 An internship is a learning situation where the student has the opportunity to
gain practical experience.
 Expose to engineering experience and knowledge, which is required in industry.
 To expose the responsibilities as a professional engineer of the future.
 With all the experience and knowledge acquired, will able to choose appropriate
work upon graduation.
 To get a feel of the work environment.
 To gain experience in writing report in engineering works/project.

ARCHITECTURE PLAN
MODELLING

Section properties

Name Dimension in mm Material

Beam 230X450 M20

Column 230X450,230X600 M25

One-way Slab 150mm M20

Two-way Slab 150mm M20

Wall 230mm Masonry brick

LOAD PATTERNS
Load Calculation:
On Slab:
Live load = 2 kN/m2
Live load = 3 kN/m2 (on corridor) From IS:875-Part 2
Floor finish=1.5 kN /m2
On Beam:
1. Wall load = Density X (Floor to floor height-Beam depth) X Wall thickness
= 18X (3-0.45)X 0.23
= 10.557 kN/m

2. Parapet load = 18X1X0.2

= 3.6 kN/m
Assigning of loads
1. Frame loads

Assigning of frame load on beam Assigning of staircase load on beam

2. Slab Load

Assigning of live load on Slab Assigning of floor finish on Slab

CONCLUSION
 The purpose of doing a project is fully justified and it has gone a long way in

boosting up our confidence as Structural Engineers.

 The training was an excellent opportunity to feel the difference between conceptual

study and practical application of knowledge.

 The method of designing RCC structures was carried using Limit state method which

gave us an adequate section to satisfy strength and serviceability criteria.

 The programme has enhanced my critical thinking and analytical skills as well as

improved my professional and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
