THE IMPORTANCE OF THE

PHYSICAL AND SPORT ACTIVITIES

FOR YOUNG CHILDREN

Research Proposal

any country can have”

2
AIM

to highlight the range of direct and indirect benefits associated with

physical activity and sport participation
to show what kids can gain when actively participate in physical
activities and sport
to identify how staying physically active during childhood
translates to adulthood

3
OBJECTIVES

To review the current physical activity data, recommendation &

tendency
To find, examine, summarize and analyze the outcomes of physical
activities and sports in relationship to children’s development
To explore if healthy habits established early in life continue during
adulthood

4
RESEARCH QUESTIONS

What is the current data for physical activity among kids worldwide?
What the high level of inactivity can cause?
How the risk of certain health issues can be minimized?
What are the benefits of physical activity and sport for kids?
What is the likelihood of physically active child to become physically
active adult?
What will be the possible solution for the global trend of inactivity?

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
DEDUCTIVE APPROACH
BASIC EXPLORATORY RESEARCH
The aim is to expand knowledge about the The hypothesis will be tested and validate if there is a positive
relationship of physical and sport activities to connection between physical activity and sports participation
children's development. The study aims to and school aged children
provide better understanding of the significance H 1: Physical activity and sport are beneficial for kids
and the benefits when children take active part in H 2:Participation in sports at a young age is a catalyst for later
sports and stay physically active. sport engagement and staying physical activity afterwards
RESEARCH METHOD
Data from published articles/research will be
collected to evaluate the the relationship between QUANTITATIVE DESIGN
variables. Search will be performed for The theories will be tested through collecting and
longitudinal and review studies as well as certain analyzing hard data from large numbers of young
reports satisfying the requirements for age group in people across the globe and see if there are patterns.
relationship to outcomes when participate in sport
and physical activities.

THE CHALLENGES
MORE LIKELY TO BE FACED IN THE RESEARCH
My motivation is to advance my personal development
and further my education. The hardest part more likely will be to
do the assignments by myself. So working alone is quite a
challenge however it is a great opportunity to test yourself,
apply your knowledge and improve numerous skills as well as
finding gaps in your knowledge.
Another challenge is the lack of face to face conversation
and discussion on the subjects with other students. However
keeping in mind the flexibility to learn at your own pace and
finding more information on the subjects when needed is
another great way to emphasis on trying to learn more.

THE IMPORTANCE OF AVOIDING
PLAGIARISM AND ACADEMIC MISCONDUCT

- Apply your own knowledge from learning

- Not ethical
- Give credit and acknowledgement when use someone else work
- By completing your assignments you actually learn even more
- When uncertain what and how to proceed with part of your assignment,
you find gaps in your knowledge that have to be revised
- Give credit to your own self for completing the assignment

BENEFITS OF USING DIFFERENT
SOURCES OF INFORMATION
- cost and time efficient
- easy and quickly accessible online
- generally good quality
- provide significant details, fact, data and evidence
- provide - relevant and accurate
- specific for the need of the research
- well structured
- different range and format available
-references to other sources
- various aspects on the topic
- useful for finding gaps

EVALUATION OF DIFFERENT METHODS
OF COLLECTING AND ANALYZING DATA

QUANTITATIVE DATA QUALITATIVE DATA

- expressed in numbers - measured, counted - expressed with words - descriptive
- defined variables - undefined variables
- statistical analysis - focus to understand the problem
- objective - time consuming
- relatively quick and easy to collect - relatively expensive
- generalized results from large sample size - form hypothesis
- test hypothesis - subjective
- eliminate bias

*Observation * In-Depth Interview

*Survey *Case Study *Ethnography * Case Study
*Experiments *Observation * Open Ended Questions

EVALUATION OF DIFFERENT METHODS
OF COLLECTING AND ANALYZING DATA

PRIMARY DATA SECONDARY DATA

- specifically designed to meet the research purpose - collected for different purpose
-answer the aim and research questions - easy to collect if accessible
- time consuming - less time consuming
-expensive - large sample size
- original accurate data - relatively inexpensive
- the process can be controlled - base for primary data collection
* Observation *Experiments *Interview *Journals *Published Reports *Statistics
*Questionnaire * Survey *Published Articles
ANALYZING DATA
- Review and Clean data
- Manipulating the data in numbers
- Organizing the data
- Analyzing the data - pattern, relationship
- Represent data visually using graph, charts, table etc.

REFLECTION ON MY LEARNING TECHNIQUES

➔Taking notes during the video lectures

➔Finding more information to understand better certain research methods, design,
terminology etc.
➔Time management and set up deadline to complete lectures and part of the assignment
➔Step by step plan to complete assignment in parts
➔Going back to the lectures during assignment writing
➔Rereading and rewriting assignment
