MASTER TEACHERS

Implementing Rules and Regulations

The following procedure is suggested in selecting


candidates:

 Wide publicity – particularly the criteria

 School Principals and Division Supervisors should


be asked to submit to the district committee the
names of candidates for MT together with the
supporting papers

MASTER TEACHERS IMPLEMENTING RULES AND REGULATIONS

The following procedure is suggested in selecting candidates:

 The tentative list of MT candidates in the district


should be posted in all schools so that any teacher
who feels she deserves to be on the list but has
not been included, may request inclusion of her
name provided supporting papers can be
presented to justify the claim;

The following procedure is suggested in selecting candidates:

 The district selection committee shall go over


the papers of the candidates and submit to the
Division Committee the names of those
recommended for MT position, listing the
names according to rank.

The District Committee shall certify that the


candidates meet the requirements and the
supporting documents are authentic.
MASTER TEACHERS IMPLEMENTING RULES AND REGULATIONS

The following procedure is suggested in selecting candidates:

1. The Division Committee will rank all candidates


from the districts and shall recommend to the SDS
the nominees in accordance with the number
allotted.
MASTER TEACHERS: IMPLEMENTING RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Only teachers who are actually teaching shall


be considered for MT position. (Teachers with
regular teaching loads .)

2. Candidates must possess all the qualifications


specified to be considered for MT position.
CRITERIA FOR MASTER TEACHER I:
1. Permanent teacher;
2. Bachelor’s Degree for Teachers or equivalent as provided
in Magna Carta for Teachers;
3. Very Satisfactory performance rating for the last two (2)
years (at least 33 pts.);
4. At least 3 years teaching experience;
5. At least 25 points in leadership and potential or has been a
demonstration teacher in the district level plus 15 points in
leadership and potential.
• CRITERIA FOR MASTER TEACHER II:
1. Master Teacher I for at least one (1)
year;
2. Very Satisfactory performance rating
for the last two (2) years (at least 33
pts.) as MT I;
3. Bachelor’s Degree for Teachers or
equivalent as provided in Magna Carta
for Teachers plus completion of
academic requirements for M.A.;
Criteria for Master Teacher II:

4. At least 30 points in leadership,


potential and achievement, or
demonstration teacher in the in the
division level plus 20 points in leadership
and potential provided the activities or
accomplishments listed for this purpose
had not been credited or used for earlier
promotions.
FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS:
Per DECS Order No. 70, s. 1988, Revised Policy on MTs for
Secondary Schools,
a. Secondary Head Teachers who desire to move
as Master Teachers may be shifted as soon as
items for Master Teachers are available.
b. When shifting from Secondary Head Teacher
to Master Teacher in secondary schools,
corresponding ranking of all master teachers
with their subject area of specialization
should be considered.
Per DECS Order No. 70, s. 1988, Revised Policy on MTs
for Secondary Schools,
c. An allotment of at least one master
teacher position per subject area with at
least 5-7 teachers should be the basis for
granting master teacher positions.

d. Shifting from one stream to the other is


allowed only once.
