FIVE ELEMENTS OF EFFECTIVE
WRITING

1. CENTRAL IDEA
• Purpose or central idea is sufficiently limited for meaningful • Examples are relevant, specific, detailed,
discussion. sufficient, and persuasive.
•Central idea is clearly stated, normally in the opening. • Quotations support the argument.
• All subordinate ideas relate clearly to the central idea.

2. ORGANIZATION
•Introduction orients the reader to the central idea and the line of
reasoning.
• Material is arranged in a logical and coherent sequence; subordinate
ideas are effectively identified.
• Transitions are clear and helpful.
•Conclusion or closing summarizes the argument, emphasizes the central
idea, and leaves the reader with a sense of completion. By Saparov Daniel
4. SPELLING, GRAMMAR, AND PUNCTUATION

• Spelling, including technical terms and proper names, is correct.

• Correct words are used to convey the intended meaning.
• Generally accepted rules of grammar and syntax are followed, including pronoun/noun
agreement, subject/verb agreement, appropriate verb tense, pronoun case, possessive forms,
parallel construction, etc.
• Punctuation, particularly comma placement, reflects standard usage.

.
5 EXPRESSION, WORD CHOICE, AND POINT OF VIEW

and misused jargon.

Examples of Fundamental of Writing

In my opinion, this is the most used and needed basics, and contain most of the writing skills for further explaining,

• When you want to convey information to your reader or help the audience better understand something, use

expository writing.

• There are several sorts of expository writing, including compare and contrast, cause and effect, and

analysis, among others. Technical writing is expository writing, and lots of sorts of journalism are too. In

every type, the design is all about clarity and focus. In great expository writing, nothing is confusing or

unclear.
