EFFECTS OF INCREASING THE VAPORIZIN
TEMPERATURE
• Sample 1. A R-12 simple saturated refrigerating cycle operates at an evaporating
temperature of -10C & a condensing temperature of 40C. Show the effects of increasing the
vaporizing temperature to 5C. a) Refrigerating effect, b) effect on mass flowrate per ton, c)
Effects on compressor volume capacity, d) Effect on COP, e) Effects on work per ton of
refrigeration, f) Effects on Condenser performance
EFFECTS OF INCREASING THE VAPORIZIN
TEMPERATURE

Ans: a) Refrigerating effect per unit mass increases, 108.6Kj/kg ->115.1 Kj/kg
b) The mass flowrate per ton decreases, 1.943 Kg/min -> 1.833 Kg/min
C) The volume flow rate per ton decreases, 0.1489 cu.m/min -> 0.087
d) The COP increases, 4.19 -> 6.61
e) The work per ton decreases, 0.839 Kw -> 0.532 Kw
