MEANING
Something which was not normal in the past but now normal

To talk about the changes in your life or your feelings towards a new experience

RULES
GET USED TO + Ving/NOUN

IMPORTANT: Change the form of “GET” when you change the tense not the
other verb
BE USED TO
◦ I am used to working hard.
◦ I am used to hard work.
MEANING
Something that we are already accustomed to. It can refer to the
past, present or future.

FUNCTION
to talk about things we are familiar with/that are not new for us

RULES
BE USED TO + Ving/NOUN
WOULD
◦ Used to and would both describe something that
happened regularly in the past but doesn't happen any
longer, as shown in the following two sentences
about quitting smoking:

I used to smoke, but I quit last year. 

Whenever I craved a cigarette, I would chew gum instead. 


◦ The main difference between used to and would is
that would is not used with state verbs such as love, be,
understand, and feel. Compare these two sentences with the
state verb love:
 
◦ When I was a student, I used to love sleeping late on the
weekends. (natural and grammatical)
◦ When I was a student, I would love sleeping late on
weekends. (awkward and ungrammatical)
