Miami Baywalk & Riverwalk: How Did We Get Here?
In 1979, the City of Miami passed the Dan Paul ordinance requiring new buildings to be
set back 50’ for public access along Biscayne Bay and the Miami River. Further, when
property owners develop or redevelop, they are required to build and maintain a 25’
public pedestrian promenade.
