Comparative study of human rights

(The last Sermon of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and charter of United Nations)
Objective of study:

 To compare and contrast the aspects of human rights in the

last sermon oh the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and in the charter of
United Nations.

 To highlight the human rights discussed in last sermon and in

United Nation's charter briefly.
Research Questions:

1. Is United Nation's charter of human rights similar to the

Last sermon of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) ?

2. What are the human rights guaranteed by United

Nations ?
Research Methodology

The nature of this study is comparative. It is aimed to find

similarities and dissimilarities about basic human rights in
last sermon of Holy Prophet PBUH and in the charter of
United Nation’s. Thus the study goes under the
comparative category for research method, descriptive
data analysis design goes under the heading of qualitative
research. This paper also supported secondary data
collected from articles and scholarly journals.
Data Analysis

Definition of Human rights:

A renowned Muslim school Abdul Hakeem says:

“General human rights are collective rights. Any power do not ban
or stop them but their perception is different in different areas. So,
there is deficiency to define them.”

A western scholar says:

“Those conditions of social life without which no man can seek in
general to be his best self.”
Data Analysis
Comparison of Human rights.
 The final sermon of the Prophet (PBUH) mentions right here that the
Prophet referred to start with the character of the beginning of the person
which suggests the significance of ways all human beings had been
created equally. He (PBUH) pointed out Adam and Eve, that means that
humans are same in creation, respect, feelings, and all manners, from the
very beginning.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Similarly, we see that the United Nations mentions that one of its main
purposes is to ensure the equal rights of the people and good relations
among nations.
 To achieve international co-operation in promoting and encouraging
respect for human rights and for fundamental freedoms for all without
distinction as to race, sex, language, or religion.
Data Analysis

According to the last sermon of Holy Prophet (PBUH), everyone has

right to buy property and others are abided by law to interfere in life,
property, or business of others.
   ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Similarly in United Nation’s charter it is clearly declared that every
person has liberty to own property anywhere according to the laws of
that country. And no one can interfere in your dealings.
Data Analysis

 Slavery of any kind is prohibited in the last sermon of Holy

Prophet PBUH. It is clearly stated that treat your slaves or
workers as like your brothers, give them facilities that you enjoy
for yourself.
     -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Similarly in United Nation’s charter it is Stated: “No one shall be
held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be
prohibited in all their forms.”
Conclusion

 Comparative studies of the Last Sermon and also the United Nations charter
denote some basic similarities and clearly indicate that the charter has been
influenced by the Last Sermon. Minutely observing the last sermon, we see
that every moment of life has been covered and discussed and so it’s been
declared prohibited to commit any injustice. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said
that God has given everyone the rights they deserve.
 Similarly United Nation’s Charter also described the basic Human rights under
the influence of last sermon of Holy Prophet PBUH. It can be clearly seen that
the first event, where human rights were discussed briefly was the last sermon
of Holy Prophet PBUH and after many years after the Second World War
U.N.O. discussed the human rights in UDHR under the influence of last
sermon of Holy Prophet PBUH.
