The weather and climate in

Spain
• Spain has a varied landscape and mainly consists of mountain
areas ,many different climates can be found in this country
such as Mediterranean climate ,Continental climate
,Maritime climate ,Desert climate ,High mountain climate
and even subtropical climate. In summer the weather is
indeed sunny and warm and even extremely warm in the
interior . However this doesn’t apply everywhere for winter
months . In large parts of Spain winter months really feel
cold and like winter.
• Spain is still a popular winter destination and that is also not
surprising with the wonderful climate at the coast. Mainly
the Costa Blanca is extremely popular in winter. The
Canaries are also a perfect winter destination. In the winter,
temperatures are around 18 degrees Celsius on the coast and
in the Canary Islands around 23 degrees Celsius.
• The north of Spain has to do with a maritime climate which
means that both summer and winter months are mild with
relatively high rainfall. Central Spain has to do with a
continental climate, where summers are extremely hot and
winter is cold with little to no precipitation.
• In the Pyrenees and on the Sierra Nevada you can ski in
winter and in spring . Temperature differences in this area
can be as high as 25 degrees , from the coast to the Sierra
Nevada in that period. Spring (April-June) and Autumn
(September- November).
Scenery and landscape in Spain
Spain is full of beautiful, unspoilt natural landscapes with many still
relatively undiscovered. A country full of natural wonders , stunning
geological scenery, lush forests, dry deserts, volcanoes , lakes and
impressive mountains.
The vegetation and wildlife in
Spain
• Pine trees , oak trees and eucalyptus are typical vegetation in Spain .The
mountain regions are home to coniferous woodland and beech trees. Oak
trees and beech trees are often found in the wet regions of Spain. In
lower areas chestnut ,ash-tree ,linden ,hazelnut , and maple trees are
growing. Fern ,broom ,and different heather species are also widely
spread. In the dry southern parts of Spain vegetation are covered with
lavender, myrtle, and laurel plants.
• The Spanish fauna is very diverse. Around 2.500wolves live in Spain. The
population of Iberian wolves is there with one of the largest and most
stable ones in Western Europe. Next to the wolves around 200 brown
bears are domestic in the country. Also ,the very rare Iberian Lynx can be
found in Spain. With less than 300 animals the species is highly
endangered. The usually only in Africa living small spotted genet can as
well be found in Spain . Next to these rather rare animals the Ichneumon,
the Spanish ibex or the pyrenes chamois are characteristic for the Spanish
fauna. Many animal species from Germany are also domesticated in Spain
like the deer, rabbit, wild boar, badger, or fox . There are also many
different bird species: Flamingo in wetland areas, eagles, buzzards,
vultures and pheasants. Lizards, geckos, snakes, and turtles belong to the
different reptile species which can be seen in Spain.
Historical and Cultural attraction
• 2 examples of historical attraction/ site in Spain:
1:Tarragona- located in Costa Dorada region and just an
hour from Barcelona, Tarragona was once the capital of the
Roman empire in Spain. Today Tarragona is a historical and
cultural site.
2: Plaza de Espana, Seville- the Plaza is one of the
country’s finest examples of Renaissance Revival
architecture.
• 2 examples of cultural attractions in Spain:
1:Alhambra Palace- located in the Andalucian city of
Granada, Spain ,the Alhambra is declared UNESCO World
Heritage Site and a Spanish property of cultural Interest.
2: Flamenco music and dancing- a wonderful symbol of
Spanish culture, flamenco is something that all tourists
look forward to when visiting the country.

Spain is a country which has very diverse food
cultures depending on which region you are in.
