NATURE

CONSERVATION
Observed on July 28 annually, World Nature Conservation Day acknowledges that a healthy environment is the foundation for a stable and healthy
society.

Meaning of conservation of nature

“Conservation means the wise use of the earth and its resources for the lasting good of manking” – Gifford Pinchot

Earth’s natural resources include air, minerals, plants, soil, water, and wildlife. Conservation is the care and protection of these resources so that they
can be preserved for future generations. It includes maintaining diversity of species, genes, and ecosystems, as well as functions of the environment,
such as nutrient cycling.

Conservation is similar to preservation, but while both relate to the protection of nature, they strive to accomplish this task in different ways.
Conservation seeks the sustainable use of nature by humans, for activities such as hunting, logging, or mining, while preservation means protecting
nature from human use.
TIGER
CONSERVATION

Tiger:The Siberian tiger, the world’s biggest cat, once roamed Asia’s forests in the thousands. Sergei
Bereznuk is battling poachers and habitat destruction to save this endangered animal from extinction
For the past 17 years, Sergei Bereznuk, a staunch Russian conservationist and ecologist, has been
working valiantly to save the Amur tiger. Based on his experience since 1995 with a tiger anti-
poaching brigade in the Russian Far East province Primorsky Krai, Bereznuk is convinced that saving
the Amur tiger depends on both the efficiency of anti-poaching measures and the education of the
local people.
BIRD CONSERVATION

Bird conservation is a field in the science of conservation biology related to

threatened birds. Humans have had a profound effect on many bird species.
Over one hundred species have gone extinct in historical times, although the
most dramatic human-caused extinctions occurred in the Pacific Ocean as
humans colonised the islands of Melanesia, Polynesia and Micronesia,
during which an estimated 750–1,800 species of birds became extinct.
SOIL CONSERVATION

Soil conservation is the prevention of loss of the top most layer of the
soil from erosion or prevention of reduced fertility caused by over
usage, acidification, salinization or other chemical soil contamination.
PLANT CONSERVATION

Plant Conservation is a broad group of activities which aims to prevent

plants from becoming extinct. It includes the direct conservation of wild
populations, collections of plants with gardens, education programmes,
invasive species control, recovery and restoration work, research
programmes, training.
WATER CONSERVATION

Water conservation is the practice of using water efficiently to reduce

unnecessary water usage. Water conservation is important every individual
depends on water for livelihood, we must learn how to keep our limited
supply of water pure and away from pollution. Keeping our water supply safe
and pure will protect the water for the generations to come.
CONCLUSION

Conservation is the care and protection of these resources so that they

can be preserved for future generations. It includes maintaining
diversity of species, genes, and ecosystems, as well as functions of the
environment, such as nutrient cycling.
