Safety
• Complete Personnel Protection Equipment (PPE)

• Logging Unit should be moved ONLY after CMTD is Stowed for Transport

• Don’t Touch CMTD, when cable under tension

Schlumberger Private
• Pinch points while installing

• Do not expose Connections to Water

• Use the Right tools for the job

• If in doubt, ASK

CMTD
Theory of Measurement
CMTD uses a strain axle to determine tension. (ID: 3012541)

Using the correct CMTD rollers (with wear within tolerance) is critical to maintain the angle the
cable makes against the strain axle.

Applied load on
strain axle is

CMTD Calibration
Calibration Poster (ID: 5187483) –

 Calibration frequency for standard operation Monthly/ Every

20-25 Jobs
 Calibration frequency for High Tension operation Every Job

Schlumberger Private
 Calibration for Tension Device Calibrator Yearly

Note:Before Calibration, each CMTD Roller diameter should be

measured. Each roller has a wear tolerance of .050” Any roller
found to be outside that tolerance should be replaced.

(IT # 4862290): Always use the load cell and digital display together as
set, as they were calibrated. Otherwise the calibration performed
with different set of load cell and digital display will be wrong.
