Examples of Verbs in Different Tenses

Simple Present Tense-The simple present is used to describe an
action, an event, or condition that is occurring in the present, at
the moment of speaking or writing.

For Example- I play. He / She plays.

Simple Past Tense-The simple past is used to describe an action,
an event, or condition that occurred in the past.

Tenses: For Example- I played. He / She played.

Simple Future Tense- The simple future is used to refer to actions


that will take place after the act of speaking or writing.

For Example— I shall play. He / She will play.

Present Progressive Tenses:

The Present Progressive Tense is used to represent an action that is


going on at the time of speaking.

For Example:
I am working.
He / She is sleeping.
Past Progressive Tense:

The Past Continuous Tense is used to indicate an action that started


in the past and was going on for some time in the past.

For Example:
I was working.
He / She was sleeping.
Future Progressive Tense:

The future progressive tense, sometimes also referred to as the


future progressive tense, is a verb tense that indicates that
something will occur in the future and continue for an expected
length of time.

For Example:
I will be working.
She will be singing at night.
Present Perfect Tense:

The Present perfect tense combines the present tense and the
perfect aspect used to express an event that happened in the past
that has present consequences. This tense is used to show a link
between the present and past and is commonly used in everyday
conversations, in the news, on the radio, and when writing letters.

For Example-
She has lived here all her life.
They have written three letters already.
Past Perfect Tense:

The past perfect refers to a time earlier than before now. It is


used to make it clear that one event happened before another in
the past. It does not matter which event is mentioned first - the
tense makes it clear which one happened first.

For Example- 
I had written the email before he apologized.
The plane had left by the time I got to the airport. 
Future Perfect Tense:

The future perfect is a verb tense used for actions that will be
completed before some other point in the future. The future
perfect tense talks about an action that will be completed
between now and some point in the future.

For Example-
Shannon will have gardened by then.
Robert will have read various kinds of books.
Present Perfect Progressive Tense:

The present perfect progressive tense shows that something


started in the past and is continuing at the present time.

For Example-
He has been studying in the library for three hours.
They have been playing in the ground for two hours.
Past Perfect Progressive Tense:

The past perfect progressive tense shows that an action that


started in the past continued up until another time in the past.

For Example-
We had been walking on the path since evening.
He had been drinking milk out the carton when Mom walked into
the kitchen.
