Introduction
⚫What is irrigation?

⚫Irrigation may be defined as the

science of artificial application of
water to the land or soil that
means depending on the soil
type, plant are to be provided
with water.
Introduction
⚫ Agriculture plays an important role for
development of country. Agriculture depends
on the monsoons which has insufficient
source of water
⚫ In agriculture, two things are very important,
first to get information of about the fertility
of soil and second to measure moisture
content in soil.
NEED
⚫Smart irrigation System

⚫ Now a days people wants to look their work from anywhere

in manner of digital devices such as smartphone and tablet
or laptop. These things are done easily by using Internet of
thing (IoT).
⚫ The Smart Irrigation System is an IoT based device which is
capable of automating the irrigation process by analyzing
the moisture of soil and provide required amount of water
to soil
Motivation
⚫ For continuously increasing demand and decrease in
supply of food necessities, it’s important to rapid
improvement in production of food technology.
⚫ This is the important factor in human societies to growing
and dynamic demand in food production. Agriculture plays
the important role in the economy and development.
⚫ Due to lack of water and scarcity of land water result the
decreasing volume of water on earth, the farmer use
irrigation.

❖ Here the block diagram represents
the internal work and some external
work as well.

Components
Arduino Uno
⚫The Arduino Uno is an open-
source microcontroller .
⚫Arduino is used in irrigation Fig 1 : Arduino Uno

system for automatic plant

watering System.
Soil moisture sensor
⚫The soil moisture sensor is used Soil moisture
sensor
to measure the volumetric water
content of soil. It is used to
monitor soil moisture content to
control irrigation.
⚫It has a level detection module in
which we can set a reference
value.
Temperature and Humidity Sensor
⚫The temperature and humidity sensor is
necessary to reduce the watering
frequency. Fig:3 Temperature And
Humidity Sensor
⚫That is when the weather gets cooler,
less water is needed whereas vice versa
in the other case.
Relay Module
⚫ The relay module is an electrically
Relay Module
operated switch that allows you to turn
ON or OFF a circuit using voltage
and/or current much higher than a
Microcontroller could handle.
⚫ Arduino is connected to the relay
module.
Submersible Water Pump
⚫This pump is used to traverse water
from water source to soil .
⚫ Small DC Submersible water pumps
Submersible Pump
push fluid to the surface as opposed to
jet pumps having to pull fluids.
⚫Submersibles are more efficient than jet
pumps.

Working of Process
Research Gaps

⚫Every soil type to be calibrated.

⚫Lack of accuracy in sandy soil due to large particles.
⚫Slow response to changes in soil water content.
⚫Maintenance is cost inefficient.
Future Scope
• This smart irrigation system is feasible and cost
effective for optimizing resources of water in
agriculture production.
• It can help improving the irrigation system in places
with water scarcity.
• Hence this results good production and great saving of
time and money
Conclusion
• This System going save time, money, and manpower for
irrigation fields
• Due to smart irrigation system ther is Increase of
production (crops).
• Water conservation taken place.
• This technology makes comfortable in working and
automation makes this level up
