• A policy is a man made rule of pre
determined course of action that is
established to guide the performance of
work towards the organisation
• Policy is a plan of action
• Policy guides for decision making and is a
part of strategy. It is a standing plan that
serves to guide the subordinates in the
execution of the task

• A policy has got two objectives:
• General objective and Specific objective
• General objective expresses the top
management philosophy of human
resources and reflects its deep
understanding conviction as to the
importance of people in an organisation
and of the organisational activity which
deals with the people

developing, wage and salary
administering, motivating, managing
employee services, managing employee
records, labour relations and personnel
