E SUMMARY
Last May 18, 2021, I initiated a Department Learning Action
Cell (DLAC) on how to minimize failure in Science. In this

DLAC, I introduced strategies for intervention and

remediation, and the proper way of communicating with
parents and learners at risk of failing. Three strategies were
discussed: Science catch-up Session, Linkages of School
... and the Locality and Science Head Teacher Roll-Call.

The new normal set-up of education, facilitators of learning, teachers and educators face
ARTIFACT 2
challenging tasks in preparing their lessons. Teachers need to prepare two sets of weekly
home learning plans, one for online distance learning and one for the modular-printed
ARTIFACT 3
distance learning group of students. They also consider the role of parents/ guardians in
administering the lessons. Lastly, differences in terms of learner’s type of learning are also
ARTIFACT 4 considered in constructing formative and summative assessments.
Challenges mentioned above were addressed through learning action cells. Learning
Action Cell (LAC) session greatly boost the strategies, skills, and well-being of teachers by

discussing the strength and weaknesses of each, introduction and assistance to new
interventions and techniques that may help improve teaching-learning process in the new

addressing challenges everyone is facing in terms of continuing education of learners in
this time of pandemic. Regular LAC sessions is highly recommended to be done at least

It is very important for every teacher to understand the interventions needed,

ARTIFACT 3 for them to evaluate their teaching strategies and to know if they are coping
with the needs and learning styles of their learners. Knowing that fact,

teachers should make an effort in devising different assessment tools for
every learner. In this case, their instructional coaches like their Master

ARTIFACT 3 Education must continue not only for the learners, but also for educators
and school leaders. Regular LAC session could greatly improve the
