 Introduction
• Conventional optical microscope are so expensive and their portability is limited and yet the
quality and contrast of the image of the sample is not good enough when compared to using Blu-
Ray Optical Pick-up Unit (OPU) with the help of Florence

• Blu-Ray Optical Pick-up Unit ( OPU) can be

repurposed to fit various applications as its
implications are endless its used for scanning,
making holes, in Raman Effect and High-
Throughput 3D Printing and many more
The OPU based system reveals detailed filament
structures of the astrocytes and retrieves a higher
contrast than the conventional optical microscope.

 Aim
• Design and develop an On-chip fluorescence microscope to visualize live-cell imaging
using (Optical Pickup Unit) OPU. 

Objectives
• Using OPU for imaging with the help of Florence gives better Image quality and using
Florence gives better differentiation of cells membranes and proteins, It is cost
effective and as its also portable it can be used in rural areas and widely adapted.
