A. The Municipality of Santo Tomas, Pangasinan
Santo Tomas, officially the Municipality of Santo Tomas (Pangasinan: Baley na Santo
Tomas; Ilocano: Ili ti Santo Tomas; Tagalog: Bayan ng Santo Tomas), is a 5th class municipality in
the province of Pangasinan, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 14,878 people.

As a parish, Santo Tomas was erected on March 15, 1974, by Archbishop Federico
Limon consecrated the Church on March 15, 1974, since before, Santo Tomas Church was merely a "visita” or
chapel of Alcala, Pangasinan, while the town was a barrio of Alcala (from 1898 until the 1901 fusion with
Alcala), with former name of Arango (“inarang”, fresh water shells at Agno River).
Before 1898, Santo Tomas was a barrio of Alcala. Arango was its name as a barrio, Such a
name derived from “inarang”, a name given to the fresh water shells which abound near the bank of the Agno
river. Santo Tomas was recreated as a town in 1908.

B. Brief Profile of Barangay Poblacion East

Poblacion East is situated at approximately 15.8783, 120.5783,


in the island of luzon. Elevation at these coordinates estimated at 26.5
meters or 86.9 feet above mean sea level. It is the third (3rd) barangay of
Santo Tomas, Pangasinan. Poblacion East shares common borders with the
following barangay(s): Barangobong, Villasis, Pangasinan; Poblacion West,
Santo Tomas, Pangasinan; San Agustin, Santo Tomas, Pangasinan; Salcedo,
San Manuel, Tarlac

C. The Ernesting Gonzalez Central School
The dream to pioneer the establishment of a public elementary school
for the residents of Barangay San Agustin – Sto. Domingo, started as early as
1935. Ernesting Gonzalez Central School is formerly known as Sto. Tomas Central
ERNESTING GONZALEZ
Central School
School.
Santo Tomas, Pangasinan It is headed by a Teacher In-Charge with twenty three (23) formal
classroom teachers, two (2) Alternative Learning System (ALS) Teachers, twenty
one (21) females, two (2) males and one (1) school caretaker. The school offers
regular kindergarten to Grade VI learners and Alternative Learning System (ALS)
Program.
The school caters more or less 600 pupils having six (6) barangays as
catchment area. In this time of serious threat of pandemic, the school is now
equipped with health safety kits to ensure the health and safety of all learners,
teachers, parents and stakeholders so that the continuity of education will not be
sacrificed.
It contains the implementation plan, process flow on the learning
modality of best fit and school operation management which will require health
standards in school and work places with appropriate guidelines and directives.
