About UK Sport…
• UK Sport is the strategic, lottery funded lead body for performance
sport in the UK.
•Dragon Sport, 5x60 and PE & School Sport are all aimed at improving not only
the quantity but the quality of sports provision to young people.
•Free Swimming - offers free swimming opportunities for all young people under
16 years of age, as well as those over 60.
• Linking closely with schools and community sports clubs, Dragon Sport
is making a dramatic impact on sports participation by encouraging
children to become involved in a variety of organised sporting activities
such as small sided games of rugby, football, tennis and more…
• This is carried out by a host of arranged activities taking place before school,
at lunch time, after school and at the weekends.
• Activities range from the usual football and rugby to mountain biking and
surfing.
PE & School Sport
Aims…
The project aims to raise standards in physical education by making sure that all
schools:
•Set challenging targets for raising standards in physical education and school sport;
•Provide enough curriculum time to teach the requirements of the National Curriculum
for physical education in all key stages;
•Develop young people's physical skills from one year to the next and improve their
understanding of the importance of health and fitness;
•Support schools in Wales to extend opportunities for school sport beyond the school
day by improving the quality and the breadth of after school activities
•Establish Development Centre Partnerships and ensure they work together for the
identification and development of good practice in PE and School Sport.

Lets Walk Cymru
'Let's Walk Cymru' (LWC) is a Wales-wide walking programme tasked with increasing
the number of people using the great outdoors as a way of improving health and
wellbeing of the population. The use of natural green space provides great opportunities
for people to participate in and enjoy walking.
•Offer walking groups guidance in how to expand their menu of walking activities, by
introducing more progressive or challenging walks (including nordic walking, hill walking
and navigation skills)
•Engage with new target groups to increase the number of people benefitting from
walking.

The FAW
(Football Association of
Wales)
About The FAW
• The Football Association of Wales is the third oldest association in the world,
having come into existence in 1876. The association has governed football in
Wales continually since that date.
•The FAW in addition to its administration responsibilities for football in Wales also
has the responsibility of running the international teams
•The Council is responsible for the overall direction of Welsh football and the day
to day management of welsh footballing affairs such as any disciplinary issues
• It is also in charge of the Welsh Premier football league and its lower divisions
along with all competitive local league games taking part in Wales
Main Aims of The FAW
• That leading and potential Welsh footballers are being sought after
and established in leading club sides of the highest possible Leagues
• Young players are having the opportunity to train and to play football
in high quality facilities
