CONSTITUTIVE

MODELLING OF
CONCRETE
AN OVERVIEW
ABSTRACT
The constitutive model of concrete has evolved in the last three
decades.
This document describes several developments based on
plasticity, elasticity, etc. small fractures of the material are
supposed to be resolved with constitutive models.
INTRODUCTION
Concrete is a heterogeneous material that is still studied if
behavior, is analyzed by finite elements and several constitutive
relationships are required.
EMPIRICAL MODELS
To obtain the experimental data for the standard compression
test, loads are applied which result in an uncontrolled failure
after the peak load.
In the cylinders is where these tests are carried out most, but it
is not a real test, for reason they are called a lack of proof.

LINEAR ELASTIC MODELS
It is always very accurate to predict concrete behavior until
failure.
The concrete is taken as linear elastic until it reaches a
maximum force and then fails brittle.
