horizontal directions .
depending on wall layout , there are

three(3) configurations of large-panel
building.

- longitudinal wall system
- two-way system
 FRAME SYSTEM
Pre-cast frames can be constructed using

either linear elements or spatial beam-
colunm sub-assemblages.
SLAB-COLUMN SYSTEM WITH SHEAR


 these systems rely on shear wallsto
sustian lateral load effects, whereas the
slab-column structure resists mainly laod.
 These are two main systems in this
category
there are :- lift-slab system with walls
- prestressed slab-column
system
 MIXED SYSTEM
 a pre-cast may include a combinatoin of
any of the above systems even have some
parts of cast –in-place members.

 The concrete of superios quality is
produced as it is possible to have better
technical control on the production of
concrete in factory.
 It is not necessary to provide joints in
the precast construction.
 the labour required in the
manufacturing process of the pre-cast
unitcon easily be trained.
 The pre-cast articles may be given the
desired shape and finish with accuracy.
 The work can be completed in a short
time, when pre-cast units are adopted.
 When pre-cast structures are to be

ADVANTAGES
conciderably reduced.
 It embraces various building shapes.
 It can be assumed to bemore or less

operatives.
DISADVANTAGES
 If not properly handled, the pre-cast
units may be damaged during
transport.
 It becomes difficult to produce
satisfactory connectoins between the
pre-cast members.
 It is necessary to arrange for special
equipment for lifting and moving of
the pre-cast units.
 The economy achieved in pre-cast
constructoin is partially balanced by
the amount to spent in transport and
handling of pre-cast members. It
become therefore necessary to locate
the pre-cast factory atsuch a place
that transport and handling charges
are brought down to the minimum
possible extent.
DISADVANTAGES
 Needs high labour number and plant on
site.
 Erectoin of formwork is time
consuming
 The quality control is difficult
 Once the concrete has been cast it is to
difficult to do any modificatoins.
 Weather can create problems for
