Setup of a real System
TPiSCAN – Setup

TPiSCAN Required Packages

A typical TPiSCAN installation consists of the following mandatory


packages:

 TPiSCAN admin (provided by WN-SyR&D)


 TPiSCAN admin server (provided by WN-SyR&D)
 TPiSCAN runtime (provided by WN-SyR&D)
 Customer package (provided by PS/Partner)
 Content of this workshop and How_to_Build_a_Customer_Package
 TPiSCAN HWConf (provided by WN-SyR&D)

Additionally the following optional packages are recommended:

 Adapter package (provided by Partner)


 Integration package (provided by PS/Partner)
 see How_to_Create_Integration_Packages
 Autostart packages (provided by PS/Partner)
 Service packages (provided by PS/Partner)

TPiSCAN Setup Manager

Important Terms

 System: A Machine (PC, Beetle, etc.) running TPiSCAN Software


 System Group: A Group of Systems sharing the same Hardware and playing the same
Role
 Store Hierarchy: A Tree Structure used to organize Stores
 Package: A Piece of Software that can be installed
 Update Installation: The Installation of a new Package Version replaces the previous
Package Version.
 Side-By-Side Installation: The Installation of a new Package Version doesn’t touch
existing ones, all Versions are installed simultaneously.
 Package Activation: If a Package supports Side-by-Side Installation, Package
activation means the Process of selecting the Package version that shall actually be
used.
 Software Profile: A list of Packages and their Versions to be installed on a System
Group
 Software Deployment: The Process of transferring and installing Packages

Installation and Data Access

Install and run the Setup Manager:

 Download Setup Manager (part of


the TPiSCAN runtime package)

 Unzip this package to your local disk


 Start the setup server by executing
start-server.cmd

 Double click the start link


-> Browser will open

 User: setup
 Password: pute

 Complete Server name, Port, User


and Password as shown
 Standard Password is: admin

 Finally press the “Connect” Button

Software Package Maintenance

Upload all required packages

Absolutely necessary
Packages are:

 wn-tpiscan-admin
 wn-tpiscan-admin-server
 wn-tpiscan-runtime
 customer package

Optional (recommended)
Packages are typically:

 Integration package
 Service-store-server
 Service-enterprise-server
 Autostart-packages
 Adapter package

System Group Maintenance

A System Group is a Group


of Systems sharing the same
Hardware and playing the
same Role

Typical System Groups:


• Attendant Stations
• PosTowers
• PayTowers
• PosTowersNonCash
• PayTowersNonCash
• …

Modify the System Groups


according to your needs
by adding new and removing
existing Groups

Software Deployment

Define and maintain


Software Deployments:

 Create a Deployment
 Assign Download
Timestamps
 Assign Activation
Timestamp
 Add a Software Profile to
each Deployment
 Add a Target Store or
Region defined in the
Hierarchy Maintenance

Deployment will automatically


start at the given Timestamp

Installation Media Creation

The Deployment defined is


automatically distributed if

 Webdav was selected in


the Data Access Page
 All target Systems already
have a TPiSCAN
Administration Package
installed
 the Initial Setup Tool was
already used to setup the
target Systems

If one of the above Conditions


is not true, it is recommended
create Installation Media.
Installation Scripts can be
created for Windows or Linux
based Systems.
