The Ways of God Are Holy 1
HOLY
Isaiah 35:8
Isaiah 35:8
● “9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s
special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called
you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a
people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received
mercy, but now you have received mercy.” - 1 Peter 2:9-10
2. HIS PEOPLE SHOULD REFLECT HIS
NATURE
● ABIDING HOLINESS
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off
every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does
bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”
- John 15:1-2
HOW?
“18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your
faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You
believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and
shudder. 20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith
without deeds is useless?” - James 2:18-20
HOW?
● TRUSTING GOD
“12 “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to
him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld
from me your son, your only son.” - Genesis 22:12
3. HIS PEOPLE’S RECOGNITION OF THEIR
SIN
● Disobedience is a sin
● Failure to obey God affects our relationship with Him
“7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son,
purifies us from all sin.” - 1 John 1:7
3. HIS PEOPLE’S RECOGNITION OF THEIR
SIN
4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and
the temple was filled with smoke. 5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined!
For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean
lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”- Isaiah 6:1-5
3. HIS PEOPLE’S RECOGNITION OF THEIR
SIN
● God uses the lives of His people and traveled over them as His highway
of holiness. We are to reflect God’s holiness to all those around us by
abiding, trusting and obeying His commands for His glory and honor.
