Away from Legacy Systems

• QuarkCity India Pvt. Ltd was established in year 2003.

• It works on Land Acquisition, Project Development, Construction and Management
Services.
• To maintain the data and execute the tasks they relied on Information System but it was an
old and outdated IS(legacy) and thus they shifted to a more advanced Enterprise Resource
Planning(ERP) System.
• The main problem of the Legacy IS was that Data Integration across departments was
unavailable and also many others issues were there(Table 1)as a result of which the flow of
information was restricted and to access the information they had to manually request it
each time for the information.
• The legacy Information system consists of three softwares: Tally,QCMS(Quark Commerce
Software) and MRP-II.

 Solution- Oracle ERP Functional Suite
• The Oracle ERP system was centralized and any changes made to any of the entries were immediately
visible to all the departments.
• As a result of which the flow of information improved within the company.
• The ERP also provided the exact start date and completion date for various projects of the company.
This led to the completion of project on timely basis which led to improving the productivity and efficiency
of the firm.
• All the processes are managed by the ERP system such as procurement of material, cost, consumption
etc.
• It also generates information on production processes leading to a better inventory management and
thus leads to reduced wastage based on historical data available on the ERP system leading to
increased cost efficiency and efficient material management.
• It has also helped to forecast demand of the material for the firm and lead to reduction in the cost since
the inventory will not be sitting for the long time in the warehouse.
• It also alerts the managers when the quantity of the material reaches a minimum level.
• Thus with all these advantages over the Legacy Information System the QuarkCity Pvt. Ltd was able to
improve the quality of the business.

• SAP is one of the World’s leading enterprise software provider which is built around thousands of pre
defined business processes that reflect best practices. SAP contains more than 3000 configuration
tables for its enterprise software. Leading enterprise software vendors are SAP, oracle, IBM, Microsoft.
• It was founded in 1972 and initially called System Analysis Program Development later abbreviated to
SAP.
