Generation Gap

What is generation gap?


A generation gap or generational gap is a difference of opinions
between one generation and another regarding beliefs, politics, or
values. In today's usage, generation gap often refers to a perceived gap
between younger people and their parents or grandparents.[1]
 There are five major group of generation gap
• Traditionals (born 1928 to 1944)
• Baby Boomers (born 1946 to 1964)
• Generation X (born 1966 to 1979)
• Generation Y (born 1980 to 1994)
• Generation Z (born 1995- now)
 The different between 3 main generations
 The reason behind generation gap

• The parents don’t respect children’s private life


• Accusing each other at many topics
• The misunderstanding between parents and children
• The differences between thoughts and ideas
• High expectations of the parents to their children
 Generation gap’s effects
 Positive:
• Create many choice based on other perspective
• Change the world for the better

 Negative:
• Destroy the traditional values ideas of old people
• Lack of understanding that exists between the different age groups
• Bad family relationship
 Solutions
o Rules for the old generation:
1. Provides some family time
2. Develop understanding
3. Avoid putting too much pressure on the children
4. Allow children some freedom
o Rules for the young generation
1. Make parents proud
2. Respect the older
3. Stop being obstinate and obey parents
Conclusion
-In short, a generation gap happens due to the constant changes in the
world.
-While we may not stop the evolvement of the world, we can
strengthen the bond and bridge the gap it creates.
-Each person must respect everyone for their individuality rather than
fitting them into a box they believe to be right.
