• Height of Overhead Tank ( Bottom from Terrace Level)
– Up to 1500 LPD-Minimum 8-9 ft
– Up to 5000 LPD-Minimum 10ft
– If it is Less than 8ft and more than 5ft-Extra cost for pump and
control Panel
– If it is less than 5ft, tank needs to be raised to the height required
as above, Or else system with fixed temp control has to be offered.

• Any projection casting shadow

– If it is towards S-E OR S-W, the length of the shadow is equivalent to
height of the projection; and need to provide for a allowance in E-W
direction
– If it is towards N-E OR N-W, it can be ignored. No need to give any
allowance in E-W direction
– If it is on the south, allowance equivalent to height of the projection
towards north required
– If it is on the north – it can be ignored

 Site Details
• Non-Pressurised
– If the bottom of overhead tank is more than 15ft we have to include a
‘float chamber’ to break the excess pressure. This is at extra cost

• Pressurised systems
– If a pressure pump is installed at the outlet overhead tank, or, at the
outlet of sump, the cold water becomes pressurized
– The pressure rating for pressurised system is 3.5kg/cm2
– The pressure pump will supply cold and hot water at equal pressure
to have good shower in all floors of high rise buildings like hotels,
apartments, and bungalows
– This will necessitate a change in design of the standard solar system
– In case of Sunstream C, will mean a higher thickness inner tank.
– In case of Sunstream G, the pump cost is extra if it is pressurised.
