• REVENUE:
1. Expected to grow to $32 billion, with a CAGR of 25%. Major contributors being the doubling of internet subscribers and overall
IP traffic to grow four fold by 2021.
2. With the offset of 5G telecom industries are set to 70% of their revenue from core 5G users. While implementation of 5G is still
underway but the standards and ecosystem on 5G has gathered pace in the global scenario with South Korea being the leader.
• GOVERNMENT POLICIES:
1. With the Indian govt planning to set up 100 Smart Cities, IOT will be at the heart of this development. The National Digital
Communication Policy of 2018 is set to bring in $100 billion by 2022
2. With the dream of a trillion dollar economy by 2025, rural areas have a major role to play. Hence, the connectivity needs to be
improved in the rural areas and further strengthen in areas with low tele density
3. Digital India Program enables sectors such as healthcare, banking will be connected through the internet providing ample
opportunities for growth of the sector.
• YOUTH & RISING INCOME:
1. With 93% of India’s youth below the age of 65 and 27% below the age of 15. telecommunication industries are never going to
run out of their customers. There is an increased content consumption through various streaming apps and the demand for high
speed internet is grown by leaps and bounds.
2. Rising income will also be a key determinant in the growth especially the emergence of the middle class triggering demands in
mobile and internet sector
FUTURE GROWTH
• TELECOM ADVERTISEMENT: India is projected to be the fastest growing telecom advertisement market with a
CAGR of 11%.
• COVID 19 and HYBRID MODE OF WORKING:
1. Covid-19 has proved to be a boon for the telecommunication industry. With most of the working class just
restricted to within the 4 walls, the demand of seem-less connectivity and high speed internet has grown by very
large numbers.
2. Many companies are thinking of permanently moving towards the hybrid model of working, which will increase
the demand further more. Also, there is a huge untapped potential in the broadband subscription with only 58%
subscribed to it. Work from Home will result in the increase in demand for broadband.
• DTH and ECOSYSTEM:
1. DTH operators are likely to benefit from a rising subscriber base and higher market penetration. Innovations in
paid TV services, migration from SD to HD boxes have increased consumption of - smart TV's and HD services,
offering more opportunities to service operators.
2. Providing enterprise solutions (B2B), e-payment wallets/platforms, music applications and over-the-top (OTT)
transmission platform, in a bundled form along with the traditional wireless mobile services has now become the
need of the hour, to ensure customer stickiness and widen the market footprint
