About Anime and Manga!


What is Anime?
 Put simply, anime is animation from Japan.
 Anime is a medium, not a genre. Saying “I like
anime” is akin to saying “I like movies.” It
includes the same genres as every other
medium: drama, romance, comedy, sports,
action, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and so on.
 So basically, Anime could be seen as Japan’s
“Hollywood.”
What is Anime and Where Does it Come From?

 Japan was influenced by Hollywood during the


1900’s.

 Japan couldn’t provide the actors and locations


that Hollywood could, so they animated their
movies.

 “Anime” means about the same thing in Japan


that “movie” means to you.
