Noun as a SUBJECT
The subject of the sentence tells “who” or
“what”

Noun as a DIRECT OBJECT
The direct object ANSWERS “whom” or “what
AFTER the action verb

• Jairus broke the toy.


(What did Jairus break? The toy.)
• Jared defeated his enemies.
(Who did Jared defeat? The enemies.)
• Nobita married Shizuka.
Noun as a INDIRECT OBJECT
The indirect object tells “to whom” or “for
whom” the action is done.

• Tita Marla gave Jared a pen tablet.


(Subject- IO – DO)
• Jared taught Jairus the alphabet.
• Tita Marla taught Jared English.
Noun as a PREDICATE
A noun that follows/after a linking verb works as
a predicate.
