SUMMARY ON CLIMATE ACTION
2019 was the second warmest year on record and the end of the warmest decade ever recorded in
history.Climate change is affecting every country on every continent. It is disrupting national economies
and affecting lives. Weather patterns are changing, sea levels are rising, and weather events are
becoming more extreme.
Although greenhouse gas emissions were projected to drop about 6 per cent in 2020 due to travel bans
and economic slowdowns resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, this improvement is only temporary.
Climate change is not on pause. Once the global economy begins to recover from the pandemic,
emissions are expected to return to higher levels.
Saving lives and livelihoods requires urgent action to address both the pandemic and the climate
emergency.
To address climate change, countries adopted the Paris Agreement in Paris on 12 December 2015. The
Agreement entered into force less than a year later. In the agreement, all countries agreed to work to
limit global temperature rise to well below 2 degrees Celsius, and given the grave risks, to strive for 1.5
degrees Celsius.

Analysis of the Song
So this song is called “Do it now.” With this song 60 known flemish artists demand action to put a stop on climate
change. It’s Flemish ‘big ask’.
The big ask brings together 18 countries all with the same big ask- that their commit to reduce carbon emissions,
year on year. This song resonated on the 22th and 23th of september 2012 throughout 180 cities and communities
during a ‘sing for songmanifestation’
In the video Greta Thunberg is seen saying the words ‘The change is coming whether you like it or not’ This
actually hits hard when you understand the carelessness we’re continuously doing and how we (if not you then most
of the people) selectively choose to ignore this topic. Now coming to the song, The tune is inspired by Bella ciao,
knowing the fact that Bella ciao is a very revolutionary song, the artists must have thought to make this song a
revolutionary song for climate action, that’s why they linked the tune of Bella ciao to the song to add hint of
renaissance that has to occur in people’s mindset towards climate change. ‘We need to wake up, we need to wise up,
we need to open our eyes and do it now now now!’ This line clearly depicts how humanity has been and now how it
should be. We can see the icebergs, ice mountains falling in the video, it is to show how harsh the consequences
can be if we don’t control the increasing temperature caused by carbon emissions and other chemicals. The song is
based on Climate change, Climate Action and with the conclusion that We need to open our eyes and solve the
problem together.
How might this issue have been prevented? What could have been done
differently?

Climate change is happening from past many years, it can be prevented via these ways, the ways
might feel difficult to enroll in our daily life but to bring reduction to rate of climate change some
changes in life-cycle has to done:

1]. Avoiding meat and dairy products is the single simplest way to reduce your environmental
impact on the planet, suggested a study released this year in the journal Science. Getting your
protein from beef instead of plants produces at least six times more greenhouse gases and uses 36
times more land.

2].While we cannot stop global warming overnight, or even over the next several decades, we can
slow the rate and limit the amount of global warming by reducing human emissions of heat-
trapping gases.

3]. Just consume what’s needed, not more. Natural resources are limited.

4]. Shift to renewable sources.

5]. Try to live a sustainable life.

How do you feel about the issue now
you know more about it?
It’s clearly no santa clause, whose existence depends on our belief, doesn’t matter we believe in climate
change or not, it is still happening, and increasing! We ought to understand our duties towards the planet
and try to serve them. It’s for nobody but our future’s existence that we’re hindering.
We can only reduce climate change by contributing as well.
How has this problem changed overtime?
Where do you see it going?

Earth's climate has changed throughout history. The current warming trend is of particular significance
because most of it is extremely likely to be the result of human activity since the mid-20th century and
proceeding at a rate that is unprecedented over millennia.
1]. Global Temperature Rise
The planet's average surface temperature has risen about 2.0 degrees Fahrenheit (1.1 degrees Celsius) since the late 19th century
The planet's average surface temperature has risen about 2.12 degrees Fahrenheit (1.18 degrees Celsius) since the late 19th century, a change driven largely by
increased carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere and other human activities. Most of the warming occurred in the past 40 years, with the seven most recent
years being the warmest. The years 2016 and 2020 are tied for the warmest year on record.
2]. Warming Ocean
The ocean has absorbed much of this increased heat, with the top 100 meters of ocean showing warming of more than 0.6 degrees Fahrenheit since 1969.
Earth stores 90% of the extra energy in the ocean.
3]. Shrinking Ice Sheets
The Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets have decreased in mass
Data from NASA's Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment show Greenland lost an average of 279 billion tons of ice per year between 1993 and 2019, while
Antarctica lost about 148 billion tons of ice per year
What question do you still have?
When will humans truly understand the seriousness of Climate change?
Final Reflection
We chose this goal in order to learn more about this while researching, understand
different aspects of it. The facts packed with evidences surprised us, how millions and
billions of ice has started to melt year and the severity of the consequences. According to
my opinion, This is insane how the our leaders fight over seats and don’t do anything
much. We as humans need to utilise our power of intelligence and knowledge properly, in
a way which doesn’t harms our base of existence, The Earth.
