WIND ENERGY

What is the meaning of wind energy?

• Wind power, form of energy conversion in which turbines

convert the kinetic energy of wind into mechanical or
electrical energy that can be used for power. Wind power is
considered a renewable energy source.
HOW TO USE WIND ENERGY?
• Wind energy is produced with wind turbines—tall,
tubular towers with blades rotating at the top. When
the wind turns the blades, the blades turn a generator
and create electricity. Wind turbines can have a
horizontal or vertical axis. The turbines do not
actually produce wind energy. The blades turn,
convert the energy of wind into rotational energy, a
form of mechanical energy, and this energy is in turn
converted into electrical energy.
• The working principle of Wind Turbine is simple. Wind energy
rotates 2 or 3 propellers relying on the rotor. The rotor is
connected to the main shaft, which will make the generator spin
to generate electricity.

• Wind Turbine works with the opposite principle of a fan. If the

fan requires a listirik to produce wind, but Wind Turbine is
different that requires the wind to generate electricity. The
kinetic energy of the wind is converted to electrical energy by a
generator.
MATERIAL
• 1. Turbin Angin.
a) The propeller, which functions to turn winds into
kinetic energy to rotate electric generators.

b) The electric generator, which functions to

convert kinetic energy into electric current, is
then passed to part 2 (Controller).

c) The tail of the wind turbine, which serves to

direct the wind turbine unit to always face the
wind direction.
2. Unit controller (Controller). This section serves to convert AC mains into

DC electric current (if using AC generator) and control electric charging to

the battery so as not to damage the battery due to over charging.

3. Battery (battery). This section will store the electrical current generated

by the electric generator to be used at any time. Type of battery used

should type Deep Cycle Battery.

4. Inverter. This section functions to convert 12V DC voltage from battery

to AC 220V / 110V AC voltage for household appliances working on voltage

220V / 110V.
