CYTOPLASM

CYTOPLASM
also known as cytosol
Is the protoplasm of a cell outside the
cell nucleus. It is a gel-like material
plus the organelles outside the nucleus
and inside the cell membrane.
It includes dissolved molecules and
water that fills much of the cell.
FUNCTIONS OF CYTOPLASM
1. Most of the important activities of the
cell occur in the cytoplasm. Cytoplasm
contains molecules such as enzymes
which are responsible for breaking down
ways and also aid in metabolic activity.
Cytoplasm is responsible for giving a cell
its shape. It helps to fill out the cell and
keeps the cell organelles in their place.
FUNCTIONS OF CYTOPLASM

2. The cytoplasm
functions to support
and suspend organelles
and cellular molecules.
FUNCTIONS OF CYTOPLASM
3. Many cellular processes also
occur in the cytoplasm, such as
proteinsynthesis, the first
stage of cellular respiration,
mitosis and meiosis.
FUNCTIONS OF CYTOPLASM
4. The cytoplasm helps to
move materials such as
hormones around the cell
and also dissolves cellular
waste.
