 Aim
• COVID-19 pandemic has rapidly affected our day-to-day life disrupting the world
trade and movements.
• Wearing a protective face mask has become a new normal. In the near future, many
public service providers will ask the customers to wear masks correctly to avail of
their services. Therefore, face mask detection has become a crucial task to help
global society

 Motivations
Corona viruses that are a big family of different viruses have become very common,
contagious and dangerous.
Public use of wearing a masks has become very common everywhere in the whole world
now. From that the most affected and devastating condition is of India due to its extreme
population in small area.
We proposes a method to detect the face mask is put on or not for colleges, or any other
work place with a lot of people coming together to work.

 Objectives
• Face mask detection in public places can help in thwarting the transmission of the
virus.
• Face mask detection will be image classification where the goal is to classify the
image into two classes, i.e. Mask and No-Mask, respectively.

 Proposed System
The model we will designed and modeled using python libraries namely
Tensorflow, Keras and OpenCV.

Admin will start the surveillance and if any non mask user is found it will alert
the admin.

The face mask recognition system uses python technology to detect the person
with or without a mask. It can be connected with any surveillance system
installed at your premise.

 Flow Diagram
YOLO is an abbreviation for the term ‘You Only
Look Once’.
This is an algorithm that detects and recognizes
various objects in a picture (in real-time).
Object detection in YOLO is done as a regression
problem and provides the class probabilities of the
detected images.

 Conclusion

Public use of face masks has been common in China and other nations in the world
since the beginning of the new corona virus disease outbreak.
This project will help authorities to keep track of the persons who are wearing mask or
not.
