Contemporary art
forms
1. PAINTING

-a form of expressing your artistic vision

using paint as the primary medium
-one of the ancient forms of art, with cave
paintings dating back to prehistoric
times.

2. SCULPTURE

-creates three-dimensional visual

images, traditionally using materials such
as clay, stone, ceramics, metals, or
wood.

3. LITERATURE

-an art form that shares stories.

-an art form of language and can be read
or spoken
Dekada ’70 (translated to “Decade
70”) tells the story of a woman’s
struggles and heart-breaking
experiences during the difficult
years in Philippine history known
as the Martial Law era.
4. ARCHITECTURE

-the art of structures, and we could

reasonably date architecture back to the
point when man first created shelter

5. CINEMA
-may not have the length of history as the
other art forms on this list, but it has
quickly become one of the most popular
-Movies are the projection of a three-
dimensional world onto a two-
dimensional screen, an art form that
engages our audible and visual senses
MoMA presents a survey of Philippine film from around 2000
to the present, a period known as the Third Golden Age of
Philippine cinema (following the first golden age, in the 1950s,
and the second, from the 1970s to the early 1980s).
6. MUSIC

-the art of arranging audible sounds and

vibrations to produce a musical
composition using the elements of
melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre
-can use the human voice, instruments,
or both.

Audiences around the world have flocked to

this visual artist and composer’s 2010
piece “The Clock,” a 24-hour video
montage that unfolds in real time. The
Swiss-American Marclay has brought
collage into the age of the mash-up,
creating a body of work that pulls from top
40, pop art, and Hollywood to create a sum
greater than its parts. His most shocking
piece is “Guitar Drag,” (2000), a noisy elegy
to the murdered James Byrd Jr
7. THEATER

-is an art form where the artist combines

both visual art and dramatic performance
-includes different art forms where the
artist or artists present or perform their
art on a stage.
3 Stars and a Sun is a challenge to today’s
youth—to identify the real problem and act
together to resolve it. It aptly highlights the
socially relevant music of Francis Magalona
under the direction of Nor Domingo.
