Nepotism in Business
 Nepotism in this field can mean from increased opportunity at a job or attaining
the job, to being paid more than other similarly situated people.
 It kills healthy competition among eligible candidates.
 It leaves fair and talented people, demotivated as their sincere efforts , hard
work and talent does not achieve desired goals.
 These practices led to depression, trauma, mental retardation and many other
hazards among people.
 It is the essential reason behind unemployment and economic crisis.
Examples of Nepotism in Indian Corporate
Roshni Nadar Malhotra takes reins of HCL
Roshni Nadar Malhotra
In January 2013 Roshni Nadar was  appointed as the Non-Executive Director and
the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the company. She subsequently
became the chairperson of HCL Technologies, after her father Shiv Nadar stepped
down. She has previously worked in various companies as a producer before
joining HCL. Within a year of her joining HCL , she was elevated as executive
director and CEO of HCL Corporation.
Is this a Right Decision ?
 Roshni's appointment does not change anything for HCL Tech. The signal is
clear - chairmanship role stays with the family while operational or executive
roles could be donned by outsiders
  While she assumes the role of a non-executive chairperson, Shiv Nadar
continues to be the managing director in the role of a chief strategy officer.
 Surprisingly, the company's chief executive officer C Vijaykumar leading  a
$9.9 billion dollar (FY20) revenue company, which surpassed Wipro to become
the third largest IT company in India, is still not a board member.
 The other IT firm which saw such a change of baton from father to children was
at Wipro. Rishad Premji took over as the executive chairman of Wipro relieving
his father Azim Premji.
 However, Rishad has spent well over a decade at the company at various roles
before taking over the chairmanship.
