EV’s in India – Govt Initiatives
• EV market penetration in only 1%
in sales of which 95% are Two
Wheelers – Govt of India has set
up the target of 30% of electric
vehicles on road by 2030.
• Miniscule number of charging
stations – Govt of India has
sanctioned setting up of 2636
charging stations across 62 cities.
• Govt has encouraged many start
ups and companies to venture in
Electric space by giving them tax
relaxations, financial incentives
etc.
• Govt has announced Rs. 1,50,000
income tax deductions on interest
paid on loans of purchasing EV.
Challenges in Indian EV Industry
• High on-road price of vehicles.

• Inadequate charging infrastruct.

• Reliance on Battery imports.

• Inadequate Electricity supply in


various parts of India.

• Lack of quality maintenance and


repair options.

• Changing the mindset of


consumers by making them adopt
new technology.
Focus points to boost EV Industry
• Develop strong R & D facility to
commercialize this industry.
• Rolling out incentives for
consumers and manufacturers
in the form of Tax benefits /
discounts etc.
• Rapidly developing charging
facilities in parking lots, pumps
etc.
• Ensuring adoption of EV in
public transport.
• Steps to be taken to gradually
phase out ICE and ECE engines.
• Arranging funds to boost start
ups and companies in EV
industry.
