What is a paragraph?
✘ A paragraph is a series of related sentences developing a
central idea, called the topic.
A paragraph regularly has three parts:

✘ Topic Sentece: It is usually the first sentence in a


paragraph.
✘ Supporting sentences:They support the information
of the topic sentence.It includes specific details.
✘ Conclusion: It reminds what the topic sentence was
about.

Narrative
paragraph
This type of paragraph describes one
primary topic and narrates or tells its
story. The topic usually involves one
main event, adventure, scene, or
happening.

Descriptive paragraph
When writing this type of paragraph, you describe something
with words that allows your reader to almost “see” what
you’re describing.
The sentences work together to present a single, clear picture
(description) of a person, place, thing, or idea.

Expository paragraph:
✘ Is one that presents facts, gives directions, defines terms,
and so on. This type of writing can be used when you
wish to present or explain facts or ideas.
✘ When writing this type of paragraph, you provide
information. You write it in a logical sequence so your
reader can follow the ideas.

Persuasive paragraph
Is one that presents information to support or prove a point. It
expresses an opinion and tries to convince the reader that the
opinion is correct or valid.

Conclusion.
Paragraphs play an important role in writing because they provide a
framework for organising your ideas in a logical order. Using a clear
structure for your paragraphs helps guide the reader through your written
work.
