Inner Planets:
Inner planets are all the planets inside of the asteroid belt. These planets include
Earth, Venus, Mars and Mercury.
Earth:
Earth is a planet that contains signs of live. It has a population of over 7 billion
people and is 70% water and 30% land.Earth is also where our species, Homo
sapiens live.
Venus:
Venus, is a planet that was once thought to be a twin planet to Earth however, it is
an extremely hot planet as it’s melting temperature is 480 celsius.
Mars:
Mars is a planet that has long been associated with new life. There are several rovers
and orbiters surrounding the planet, and in 2012 NASA sent a rover to examine the
planet.
Mercury:
Mercury is the smallest planet in our solar system, after Pluto was disqualified as
being a planet. It is the planet that is closest to the sun and also takes the least time
to revolve around the sun at 88 earth days.
Asteroid Belt:
It is a cluster of asteroids that are between the orbits of Mars and and Jupiter. The
four largest ones are Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, and Hygeia. They contain half the mass of
the entire belt. Scientists say if you combine all the asteroids in the belt into one big
rock, you would get a tiny world smaller than Earth’s Moon.
Outer Planets:
Outer planets are gas giants, they have no solid surfaces this refers to
planets beyond the asteroid belt which are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and
Neptune. They are also referred to as “Jovian Planets.”
Dwarf Planets:
1. Pluto
Diameter: 2,377 km
2. Eris
Diameter: 2,326 km
3. Haumea
Diameter: 1,632 km
4. Makemake
Diameter: 1,500 km Pluto Eris Haumea Makemake Ceres
5. Ceres
Diameter: 946 km
Kuiper Belt:
It is a belt that surrounds all eight major planets, extending the orbit of
Neptune by 30AU and 50AU from the Sun. The belt is similar to the Asteroid
Belt, but contains remnants from the solar systems creation. It is 20 times
wider in diameter than the Asteroid belt and 20-200 times bigger than it.
