FEATURE OF THE PORT
Port Grande it is a multipurpose
port
Located at the entrance of São Vicente Island,
in a semicircular two-kilometer bay.
It is naturally protected against strong maritime
currents and its calm, transparent waters are
between 11 and 30 meters deep channel.
Due to its natural physical conditions, Port
Grande offers excellent conditions and a safe
navigation.
MARKET TARGET
MAIN FACILITIES AT THE
PORT
The Port Grand facilities include a container terminal and
a general cargo terminal, with 11 berths giving a total
quays of 1.700 m, depths alongside range from 3,5-12m.
There is also a domestic terminal with 3 passenger berths,
a total quay of 235m and depths alongside of 4 m.

The multi-purpose and Container Terminal covers 450 m of berth


length, comprising of berth numbers 3,4 with a designed depth
alongside of about 12 m.

GENERAL CARGO TERMINAL

The General Cargo Terminal covers around 700 m berth


length, comprising berth numbers 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.
The terminal design capacity is about 600,000 metric tons
per year.

The designed depth of the quays is 5-11 m.

• Warehouses (covered with 7.000 m2)

•Extension area for expansion is available with 45.000 m²

GRANDE
Built in 1961, Porto Grande has the biggest and best port infrastructure in Cape Verde.
The F-shaped mooring wharfs are united by an access pier forming the port, with
depths ranging between 3.5 and 12 meters.
It also has a 240 meter (former fishing pier), a depth between 3 and 4.8 meters, and a
3 hectare open-air (rearrangement urban port area).
